Heikkilä still in contention for podium in Finland

Mikko Heikkilä is in fourth position in the WRC2 category after three competitive days of Secto Rally Finland. The Finn’s day was hindered by a 10 second time penalty, but the Toyota driver took home a stage win on SS11.

Mikko Heikkilä and co-driver Kristian Temonen are running fourth in WRC2 after three competitive days in Secto Rally Finland. The Toyota-driver, driving for the Italian Step Five Motorsport team, opened the day with a stage win on Västilä 1, but suffered a 10 second time penalty after being late from time control. Along with the time penalty, issues with the car kept the Finn in fourth.

-Västilä 1 was a good stage, and on the second pass the time was almost there as well. However, it feels like we've developed some issue with the car, it doesn’t perform as we’re used to, Heikkilä said.

-We were flat-out in Ouninpohja and still lost 16 seconds. Something’s not right.

With a gap of 12,4 seconds to P3, Heikkilä sets out on a mission on Sunday to elevate himself up to the podium. The final day of Secto Rally Finland consists of four stages and 41,66 special stage kilometres.
